Protecting God’s Children - Creating a Safe Environment
Anyone helping with children or young people under the age of 18 must receive Protecting God’s Children training.
This training is offered throughout the Diocese of Grand Rapids.
A background check is also required, as is reading and signing a Ministry of Standards form.
Catechesis for Children

Catechists
Teaching for religious formation classes (grades 1-6). Faith Formation for our elementary age students meets September through April: - St. Philip Neri, Reed City - Wednesday evenings, 6:00-7:30pm - St. Agnes, Marion - Sunday mornings, 9:00am-10:15am Gifts to Share Ability to teach, love of children and the ability to share the faith in a caring way at the appropriate age levels. Commitment 2 catechist meetings a year, catechist's certification process, lesson planning preparation, attending the fall catechist's conference in Grand Rapids. |
Classroom Aides
Assist the catechist in the classroom, help prepare materials for the lesson, help children in class as needed. Faith Formation for our elementary age students meets September through April: - St. Philip Neri, Reed City - Wednesday evenings, 6:00-7:30pm - St. Agnes, Marion - Sunday mornings, 9:00am-10:15am Gifts to Share A supportive role in the classroom and desire to share your faith with our children and ability to work with children of elementary age. Committment Availability to assist in scheduled faith formation classes, September until April |
Catechesis for Youth

Catechists
Teaching and sharing the faith with our junior high and high school age youth. This group meets every other Sunday from September through April from 11:00am until 12:30pm at St. Philip Neri Church. Gifts to Share Ability to teach and a love of middle school and/or high school age youth. The ability to relate, respect and encourage middle school and high school age young people. Commitment 2 catechist meetings a year, catechist's certification process, lesson planning preparation, attending the fall catechist's conference in Grand Rapids. |
Classroom Aides
Assist the catechist in the classroom, help prepare materials for the lesson as needed, and help our young people as needed. Faith formation for 7-12 graders is every other Sunday from September until April from 11 am until 12:30 pm at St. Philip Church. Gifts to Share A supportive role in the classroom and a joy in helping middle school and/or high school age young people and the ability to relate and accept the faith journey of our young people. Committment Every other Sunday from September until April from 11am until 12:30pm. |
